A man's day...

One of my jobs before leaving to drive back to Georgia next week was to take care of some car maintenance. My favorite!! So I obviously waited until the last minute and hoped for the best.
The Honda still had its original tires from when I bought it 4 years ago. They were not in terrible shape.. But it was definitely time. I really dreaded being THAT female going into the tire store ( you know.. The one that has no clue what to look for and could be sold $1000 worth of parts because they told her it was necessary). But somehow, I pulled it off nicely and pretended I knew exactly what I was talking about! I also arranged an oil change AND washed and vacuumed out the car. Impressed right?

Tonight I'm going out to dinner with a friend of mine (Kimberly).. And then over to her apartment after to hang out for a few and have some wine. I'm really excited to see her! And after this week.. A glass of wine is much needed.

The week started off a little hectic.. And that's pretty typical :) but as Friday approached, I really started to feel the pressure of this entire situation and it hit me pretty hard. It's been a very crazy year.. And not only that, but ive been "camping" in our apartment for 2 weeks now and it's been 3 weeks since I've seen my husband. Im also starting to feel a little stress on the job front ( which I need to start figuring out). Needless to say, I ended up taking a personal day from work yesterday. I just didn't have it in me to take care of the kids. And luckily, I feel much better today. I watched a movie, took Wendy to the park, and bought myself a new pair of shoes. All cures for a very bad day!

Thomas is finally back on the east coast. He flew into NY from Italy today and is staying the night tonight with his college friend Seth Dancy. He's never been to NY before so he's pretty excited. Let's just hope he can figure out the subway/bus/boat ride he's got to take to get to Seth's apartment! And then he'll have to do the same thing tomorrow morning when he heads back to the airport. But hopefully he'll have it mastered by then :)

Our friends little boy, Parker has had his heart surgery and is doing pretty well but having a couple post surgery complications. So continue to keep them in your prayers please!

That's it for now. I'm going to rest for a few before heading to dinner. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

A few things worth mentioning..

It's been a long day.. and I'm exhausted! However, my husband will be waking up in Italy any minute and therefore I'm really trying to wait up to talk to him before I go to bed. Good wife? Ah huh.

So first off- I've made a couple blog changes. Sorry in advance for the inconvenience! (And apparently I don't know how to spell inconvenience.. I tried 4 times before resorting to spell check) I just figured I might as well go ahead and transition from the "Texas" themed blog to something a little more generic. Did you notice the dashes in the URL? There is another "The Tuck Family" blog out there so I had to get a little bit creative (and I will admit that I stopped to read some of their postings.. weird.. I know. I was curious whether they might be related. However, there was not enough info listed to tell).

The second (and most important) item of discussion is about our friends Kasey and Jeremy. They are dealing with an extremely difficult situation regarding their new son Parker. He was born prematurely and has been having a very tough time over the past couple of weeks. It sounds as though he has been a real trooper.. but could still use a few extra prayers! They are most likely preparing for a surgery on his little heart in a couple of weeks once he is a little bit stronger.

On a lighter note, I met up with some friends tonight (Angela and Paul) for dinner at PF Changs and it was delicious. I had a much needed glass of wine and I'm ready to take on the rest of the week! (I think)

Goodnight everyone!

Same ol' Same ol'...

Unfortunately I don't have much to comment on today.. but figured I would still keep everyone in the loop about our plans over the next couple weeks!

Originally, I was only planning to be in Texas for one more week.. however the family that I work for is having a very difficult time finding a replacement. So I've agreed to take on one extra week. Therefore I'll be here until the 27th. My mom has already planned to fly in that night and we're going to head out on Saturday morning (the 28th). We hope to be home in Georgia by dinner time on Sunday, the 29th.

Thomas is in Italy right now. He left on Friday and will be back this coming Saturday. He's still adjusting to the change in time but seems to be having a good time. Maybe too much of a good time! He called me yesterday and said he was sitting in a local bar (killing some time) and reading an Italian book when an Italian man approached him and proceeded to have a conversation with him for over an hour.. and also insisted on buying him lots of drinks! He then had a dinner with his boss to attend.. which thankfully he was able to walk to. Somehow, he made it through dinner (with more drinking.. and more Grappa shots that his boss and fellow Russian Dealers insisted on) and called me once he got back to the room. I eventually convinced him to go to bed.. and surprise surprise.. someone overslept this morning! Luckily he is up and going and seems to be handling the day well. But Im going to assume that drinking may be kept to a minimum the rest of the trip :)

There is already talk of another trip to Italy in April.. and Im extremely hopeful that we can work it out for me to go this time also! At least this time, we're given enough notice that we can do a little planning.

By the time I get back to Georgia, it'll be a month since Thomas and I have seen each other and Im really looking forward to it. I have missed him (and Harley boy) tons!! I've given myself a couple of weeks to get settled and unpacked and then I'll be returning to Austin for one week at the end of February to help out the Miller Family once more. They are taking a trip to Hawaii and have decided to leave the twins behind. So Im going to fly in and stay with the twins for the week. Of course I wish that I could be going with them!! But I do understand why they want to leave them behind. They are still to little to enjoy a trip to Hawaii and would definitely limit the activities of the family.
After that, my job plans are still up in the air. I'm throwing several things out there and am really trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up! Or maybe I just want to remain a Toys R Us Kid? :)

Adios for now. Time to head off to work!
